What is the recommended brightness for LED monitor, Samsung XL2370.?
In terms of eye-care, what brightness should I set?
I heard this model is known for having very high maximum brightness. And I also heard turning up the brightness really high to help improve the contrast ratio. To get the most out of my monitor, I always use the “Game” mode (Brightness 100%), when I play PS3 games on my monitor. For convenience sake, I also use the same mode for all applications and now my eyes are already accustomed to this brightness. However, I’m starting to worry that this might have a prolonged negative impact on my eyes. How true is that?

PS: My room is not very well lit, I only use a yellow spot for good ambiance, especially when I’m gaming.
I’ve heard that medical studies have shown that that really doesn’t adversely affect your eyes. Your eyes automatically adjust to the level of brightness as needed, just like going from the sun outside to indoor lighting and vice-versa. The brightness level is going to really be a personal preference more than anything. However, the high brightness level could have a negative effect on the life of the backlight light bulbs as they could wear out quicker from running high all the time.
